Why Do Men Do What They Do...

Now I am probably gonna catch alot of flack from writing this post today, but with what is going on right now in society it is appropriate.

What do Arnold Schwarzenegger, Tiger Woods, Jude Law, Brad Pitt, Sam Mendez, Jesse James, Tony Parker have in common?
They are all very public figures in their own right. They are all very successful at what they do. They were all married to very beautiful and successful women.

They all cheated on their wives. WOW really? Not only did they cheat but some even had children out of wed lock and hid that for many years. Some of these men slept with prostitutes some slept with household employees and some slept with their friends wife. None of these men came clean right away, but rather it seems their hand was forced when it came to admission. Whether they were forced by monetary reasons, the build up of guilt or the knowledge that they "story" is gonna break anyways--these men would have kept on doing what they were doing.

Now dont get me wrong I am a man and I believe in the being there for your"boys" and the "bro code" and all of that stuff.

So I have to ask why do men cheat? Not just Hollywood men but all men in general?
Some will say well Hollywood men and general men cannot be compared because they live to different lifestyles. I call bullsh*t. Men are men.

First thing that we must consider and understand is that marriage is a very unnatural state for humans. The notion of staying intimate with one person for the rest of your life is not in our (both male and female) animal genetics. A very bad analogy, but to the point, is if you were only able to eat white bread everyday, while you had to look at and smell rye bread next to you everyday. The thought of "hmm I wonder what rye bread taste like" is bound to pop into your head.

Now with that being said....Marriage is hard work and full of sacrifices. It is a commitment two people make to each other. The commitment says " I got your back babe, its you and only you forever."

And most men I know and most Hollywood men stick to that commitment--but some do stray. Why?
Why do they risk everything they have and losing everything they have for one piece of rye bread?

There are only really a few reasons men cheat.
Most men cheat because they dont know what they are doing. They believe its just sex and fun and it doesnt mean anything. What they dont understand is that there is nothing that means more to a marriage the trust, respect and fidelity.

Some men cheat because they are dissatisfied at home. What they dont realize is that most wives would rather the man say that they are dissatisfied at home, then to have the husband cheating on them and then come on home and lay in bed at the end of the night.

Some men cheat because they think they can get away with it. Well I dont have to say anything about that one, no one ever gets away with it.

Some men cheat because they are in a relationship that they should have never gotten into in the first place and feel that they cant get out. Isnt it better to try some honesty with your spouse rather then breaking someones trust over and over again.

Sometime foolish men cheat for absolutely no reason at all. They just do it. I did say foolish right?

I know that this is may sound weird but some men cheat because they dont feel that their wife is attracted to them anymore. Men are very vain creatures. What they dont understand is that their wives are going through the exact same feelings. Poor communication.

Another kind of odd statement is that men cheat when they are insecure with themselves. Whether they are insecure for personal reasons or insecure at work, men seek sex to show their worth.

Last but not least is some men cheat due to alcohol reasons. Men that abuse alcohol are 10x's more likely to cheat then men that dont.

So why did those Hollywood men cheat?
Did they not know what they were doing? Doubt it. Were they dissatisfied at home? Maybe. Did they think they could get away with it? Absolutely. Were they in a bad relationship? Doubt it. Did they cheat for no reason at all? Yep. Was alcohol abuse a problem with them? Not as far as we know.

Now the funny thing is the public will quickly forgive these Hollywood men. The public will still go see their movies, see their basketball games, and buy their motorcycles. Hmm.

Now by no means does this blog intend to say that it is only men that cheat for we know that women do as well.

Marriage is a bond between two people that is not suppose to be broken. Is marriage easy absolutely not. It is day after day waking up making sacrifices so the your partner will experience more happiness today then he/she did yesterday. There will be ups and downs throughout a marriage. It is the ride through those ups and downs that make a marriage strong. Not just straying or bailing when it hits a bump. Marriage is saying yes i see that rye bread but I would never trade my white bread for it.

I have so much admiration and respect for couples that stay married. That rarely happens in todays society.

I must finish with this I have been with my "white piece of bread" for 15 years and plan on many more...
