Why is it that rich and famous people get away with just about anything and everything.
If the average Joe or Jane was caught doing some of the things these people do they would be arrested, fined, or publicly humiliated.
Not so for the rich and famous. Criminal charges never stick and bad press gets spinned in their favor all the time.
Just take a look at some. Arnold Schwarzenegger got caught with a out of wed lock child. He had an affair with his employee (she worked at his home), knocked her up and paid her to be quiet. This is all after there were reports that he unwantedly groped females while he was initially running for Governor of California. Will any of this actually hurt his film career? Nope. He is set to have a new film release some time later this year. Will people still go see his movies? Yep.
Rep. Weiner got caught sending nude photos of himself to women via the internet. Not just any women either, it is reported that some of these women were porn stars and possibly prostitutes. Will he lose his job? Nope. Not yet anyways, he has gone to rehab seeking help for something. He will return in a few weeks saying he is cured of his problems. Right.
Look at our sports figures. Tiger Woods has had more affairs with women then one person can count. Did he lose anything? He lost his wife and family and rightfully so. But his major endorsement companies stuck by him. He still makes millions of dollars off endorsements. (Some will say he lost his game as well.)
Take Brett Favre, another man that sent lewd photos of himself to a woman via his phone. What happened to him? Absolutely nothing. He is such an icon that the investigation found nothing. Wow maybe the young lady made it all up. (Not)
Kobe Bryant was said to have sexually assaulted a young lady some years back. Was he found guilty? Did it even hurt his reputation? No and No. All it cost him was a huge new ring on his wife's finger. Nice.
Look at Brittney Spears. If any regular mother was caught caring for their children in the ways that she has in the past, CPS would be involved and removing those children.
Lindsay Lohan has been found guilty of drug use how many times? Right I cant remember either it has been so many. She just goes to rehab, enjoys her stay and returns to her old ways with no real punishment at all. The average person would see jail time.
Why is it ok for Wynona Ryder to get caught shoplifting, yet she receives nothing more then a slap on the hand. Did being caught with a prostitute hurt Hugh Grant's career? Not at all.
Even our former president had a sexual affair in the oval office, yet he is still forgiven and loved by many.
In all reality it comes down to money. The rich and famous people have enough money to cover up the issue or to buy the best defense team possible. Anyone remember O.J. Simpson. The middle class Americans, that are struggling just to make ends meet, do not have such luxury.
Another reason is our society is obsessed with fame. We want to see the rich and famous crash and burn (Lebron James). It makes our society feel almost equal with them when they screw up. But we also love to bring these people back up as well. It is the old story of someone down and out, only to make it back to the top. We will give these rich and famous people second, third, and even fourth chances.
In today's society having a sex tape is nothing more then a good PR move. Take Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian for example. Two young ladies made famous by something so indecent. If you or I had one go public, we would be publicly humiliated and probably lose our jobs.
These rich and famous people will always have the money to get themselves out of trouble. That is until we as a society decide to stop making them rich and famous. We must change our way of thinking. We must say "That is not ok to do and I no longer support you". But until that day comes, they will continue to get away with things that the average person never would.
Tell us what you think about rich and famous people getting special treatment. Why do we as a society care so much about these people's mistakes? Do we really want to see them fail?
Agree or disagree at least we know what the PEOPLE think. L2

Sad but true. Here we are with a overpopulated jail for things as small as speeding tickets ( and sometimes can't pay ) so we the taxpayers pay for the innocent to be locked up when the real criminals are on our tv's and movies. Soooo not only do we pay for the innocent to be locked up, but we pay for our stars to act the way they do. From MIchelle
@Michelle thank you for your comment. I do agree with that we let these people get away with murder literally. But is up to us to make the change. We must stop going to their movies stop buying their cds and stop putting them in elected positions. Then maybe they will understand that they are know different then you and me.
L2 first of all what are CD's lol? I get my songs on iTunes. It would be nice if we all took this stand together and didn't buy anything that would put money in their pockets. Hmmmm thats a thought no movies or anything like that for a month. Do you remember when everyone was talking about the day not to put gas in your car? Well we all should do something like that. All together, but with more force. I mean look at what happens when a movie does good on just the first weekend. Imagine if people didn't see movies for a whole month...... From MIchelle
@Michelle thank you for your comment. How technology has changes us with itunes and netflix huh. We can get all right from our computer nowadays. That is a great idea and I do remember when we took a stand against the gas companies. This is what this website is for discussing our problems in todays society and then coming up with solutions. So maybe it would only be for a month but our voices would be heard. I can honestly say this I will not see another Arnold film ever. We here at Loose Topics are going to brainstorm and come up with somthing to do like that. We will use Facebook to get it out to the people. If you have any suggestions please let us know.
