So the Miami Heat are up in the series now 2 games to 1 after a narrow win on Sunday night. In game 4 tonight the Dallas Mavericks will have to find their shooting range in order to come away with a win. Through the last three games, other then Nowitzki, the Mavericks shooting has been horrible. Will it happen tonight?
It better because Dallas is not built on defense. They can not expect to hold the Heat under 90 points every game. The Mavericks are built for scoring and scoring during the first three rounds of the playoffs is just what they did.
Nowitzki is almost shooting 50% he is 28 of 61, after that the other scorers are not making many shots. J.J. Barea is 5 of 23 in the series so far. Jason Kidd is 8 for 23 in the series and Jason Terry is 13 of 34 in the series as well. Those numbers are horrible and must improve in order to give Dallas a chance.
The other players like Peja Stojakovic is such a liability on defense he has only seen 26 total minutes in the series so far. When he is on the floor he is building brick homes for Ronald McDonald. He is 1 of 5 in the series, with no three pointers.
Now some of this is the Heat's defense. They are holding their opponents to 41% from the field in the playoffs. But that doesn't mean that Dallas should miss open looks.
Dallas is too good on the offensive side to not start making some shots, they just need to keep shooting and playing good defense. The shot will fall. This is the same team that hit 60% from the field in the second round against the Lakers.
The inside game is not there for Dallas, partly because they don't have an inside game. Chandler has not been affective down low with his 2 post moves. Their other 7 footer is Nowitzki and he is a perimeter player. Haywood is not an offensive threat but could be useful on defense.
Kidd and Barea need to penetrate more, drawing the defense in so that they can kick the ball out to the open players in the perimeter. But when they do those players must knock down those shots. Nowitzki has called out Jason Terry so lets see if that ignites something from him. It better or else Dallas will be looking at a 3-1 deficit.
There is no more feeling each other out, no more tactical moves to be made. It is either make a play or you don't. If you do you will win, if you don't you lose. It is that simple. Dallas was just a few plays from being up 2-1, so now they must make the plays to even the series back up.

Dallas wins tonight 102-96 and ties the series up 2 to 2. The Mavericks other players will show up and make their shots.
Heat will build a lead, then Dallas will come back or should I say dirk will come back then it will end close again with heat on top. 3-1 . To much pressure for dirk, looks like it's building up on him. Maybe Cuban can open his fat wallet next year and buy a title . Z

Another 4th quarter come back from the Mavericks. Finally Dirk got the help he needed. Chandler was huge with 13 points and 16 rebounds, Marion had 16 points and another Terry added 17 points and Stevenson had 11. They dont need Dirk to be great every game he just needs his teammates to play like they can. They closed the game on a 19 to 4 run. That is great defense. Wade and Bosh did their part but where was Lebron at. He only had 3 field goals. Ive said all along that if Dallas's role players play good and help Nowitzki Dallas can win this series.
