WHAT IS LOYALTY RESPECT & HONESTY WORTH

The other night I was watching the television with my four year old son. We were watching one of his favorite programs, wrestling. As we were watching one of the characters moto was loyalty respect and honesty.

That got me to thinking how those three things and their meanings have been lost in todays society.

Those words, which friendships business deals and families, are suppose to be built upon no longer have the value they once did.

Let's define and take a look at each word.

Loyalty is defined as having strong support for or alligance to. Very few people now a days display loyalty. Whether it be on a personal level or a business level, people seem to have taken the "me" attitude.  It seems people only do things if it benefits them. Very rare is the time when someone does something out of loyalty to someone or something.

When you are loyal to something or someone you want the absolute best for that person or cause. When you have no loyalties you believe in and stand for nothing. You only look out for yourself and no one else.

Respect is defined as deep admiration for someone or something elicited from their abilities, qualities or achievements.

Most people don't have respect for other people because they don't really care about the other person qualities, abilities or achievements. All they care about is how can they use something or how can that person benefit them. Respect is a two way street for better or worse. If you do not show respect to something or someone do not expect to receive any respect.

Honesty is define as the act of being honest, upright and fair. This word has lost the most meaning of the three. People today are not upright with each other. People will say one thing, only to change it later to benefit themselves. Honesty is being fair, meaning to treat everything and everyone the same. You see in today's society people have cliques and if you happen to be outside the clique you will be treated different and unfair. That is not honesty. So how do we make these words have worth again? It's starts with caring. Caring more about other people and other things. Realize that we as people need each other. To stop using such things or people to only benefit ones self. There is more pleasure and satisfaction in helping others then in only helping your self. In doing so you are being honest, showing respect, and providing loyalty to someone or something. I hope we can make these words worth something again someday. We here at Loose Topics are trying. qg
