OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM IN THE ANTHONY CASE

First of all we here at Loose Topics would like to wish everyone a Happy July 4th to everyone. Stay safe and have fun.

In case anyone has not turned on any news channels or picked up a newspaper or gotten an update on your cell phone, ipad, etc. the Casey Anthony trial is almost over. As of right now both the defense and the prosecution's closing arguments are done and the jury is deliberating on the verdict.

Why has this case caught the attention of America? This is very similar to the last major case that was televised, the O.J. Simpson case. We are drawn to this case because it involves a little baby girl that was possibly murdered by her bad decision making mother, allegedly. That touches the hearts of America and creates alot of passion and anger about a mother that could possibly do that.

With all the social media available today and the thousands of different news reporters, every aspect of this case has been shown on television or posted on twitter or facebook or some other social network.

This case involves a woman who's child was killed and whether the mother murdered her daughter or was it an accidental death by drowning. That is not our place to say. Casey Anthony has already been convicted and found guilty in the court of public opinion. Every person you speak to about her and this case says the same thing. She was a bad mother and she killed her daughter so that she could live the single life. That is what the state of Florida wants the jury to believe.

Well we here at Loose Topics, are like most, and have paid attention to the highly televised case daily. Not so much for the reason as to see if she is found guilty or innocent, but see how our justice system actually works. It is quite fascinating actually.

Lets just recap a few things here. When this happened three years ago, Casey told her parents that Caylee had been missing for over 30 days and she couldn't find her. Casey herself was missing from her parents for that same month according to her parents. Once the authorities were called and got involved there was nothing but lies from Casey Anthony. Even her own defense team admits that.

We will skip a bunch of the bullsh*t that  happened next. Finally little Caylee was found dead in the woods. She was mostly bones her little body had decomposed already. Casey Anthony was arrested, not on murder charges but child neglect charges. It wasn't until further evidence was supposedly gathered that the state decided to change the charge to murder. At this point Casey's parents defended her innocence to the media, that would change later on in this case. Her own mother and father would state that they were not sure if she was innocent.

Now again we here are not going to say she is guilty or innocent of murder in the 1st degree. We will say she is guilty of lying to police officers, obstructing justice, and child neglect. The murder charge or the manslaughter charge we will not speak on.

As this case has gone on there have been experts that have testified for the defense and the prosecution. There have been reports of a smell of death in a car, there have been reports of a decoy trash bag place in the trunk of that same car. The medical examiner in this case has testified that she could not determine how little Caylee died, but did determine that it was a homicide. There have been reports of sexual abuse of Casey by her father and her brother. The defense has attempted to pin this case on Casey's father. This is really fascinating legal work, because no one actually has any substantial evidence one way or the other.

This is why our justice system is so unique and amazing.

The defense team opened this case by saying little Caylee Anthony drowned in a swimming pool accident and Casey and her father tried to cover it up. Whether you believe that or not is irrelevant. All the defense team has to do is creep alittle doubt into one of the jurors mind. Could that have happened? Is it possible? Maybe maybe not, but does it create a small amount of doubt? In the justice system the defense team doesn't have to prove it actually happened, that is the prosecution's job. But where was this drowning story 3 years ago when this happened, all of this could have been avoided.

There was a forensic expert interviewed the other day that made a very interesting comment. He stated that there is not one single piece of evidence that points to Casey Anthony as a murderer, but when you take all the evidence as a whole you are led to believe she is guilty. Very interesting, how will the jurors see that?

It is fair to say that Casey Anthony has made some horrible decisions during this whole process, starting 3 years ago. Did she go out partying when her little girl was missing? Absolutely. Did she go shopping when her daughter was missing? Yes she did. When she was incarcerated, was she more worried about herself then her missing daughter? Again yes it seemed that way. Does that actually prove that she murdered her little daughter? Not in the court of law.

Was there bad police work as far as preserving evidence goes in this case? Yes but that happens with just about every case. That should not deter anyone from finding her guilty, if they actually believe she is guilty.

This case involves a beautiful little girl that was taken away from this world prematurely. So if course it strikes a cord with the general public. The public wants justice to be served for this little girl and so do we.

If Casey is found guilty of all the charges and Caycee did accidentally drown, is justice served? If Casey is found not guilty of murder in the 1st degree but guilty of the other 6 charges and only has to serve some time in prison, is justice served?

That all depends on what you think justice is.

What do you think about the prosecution's case? Did they prove enough to the jurors to obtain a guilty verdict for murder?

What do you think about the defense's case? Did they create enough doubt, if any, in the jurors minds to possibly get a not guilty verdict on the murder in the 1st degree charge or possibly a lesser charge?

Tell us what you think. Tell us what you think about how our justice system works.

@Anonymous thank you for commenting. We try and keep the comments alittle more intellectual than that but I take it you think she is guilty and the prosecution did a good job. Do you think she acted alone in this if she is guilty?

I feel she acted alone. She will pay for this. If they don't give her the death penalty, bull daggers in jail will take care of her. I am Sure of that. She will go down for this

@Anonymous thank you for your comment again. They thougt the same thing about OJ and Michael Jackson but they both got off. The longer the jury dileberates does that help the defense or the prosecution. If it was so cut and dry they wouldn't have to deliberate for over 5 hours. Just something to think about.

True, but this involves a lil girl getting murdered. Jury will have to sleep on that for their entire lives. I feel they will convict . Oj was famous and black , Michael was king of music and white, lol but this bimbo is just a regular Jane that messed up . She is going down. I feel horrible for what that little girl went through . You don't mess with kids

@Anonymous thank you for your comment. Yes this case does involve a little girl. I think in part that is why there is so much emotion attached to the case. But emotions a side what hard evidence did the prosecution actually have that she murdered her? We are not saying she is innocent just asking questions...
