Tonight at 7:30 pm the 2011 Dallas Cowboys will take the field for their first pre season game action of the year.
This is good because most of the Cowboy fans have been waiting for over a year for this team to actually show up. Last year was a big disappointment to many fans as well as the Cowboys themselves. They had such high expectations after what they had accomplished and failed to accomplish 2 years ago, that ended in a horrible playoff lose to the Minnesota Vikings. But the moment the Tony Romo went down with the broken collar bone most every football fan, not just Cowboy fan, knew that their season was over. Their back up was John Kitna and when he is your starter your team doesnt go anywhere, just look at his numbers from his previous teams. And then to add insult to injury our man child Dez Bryant breaks a bone in his leg late in the season missing the last handful of games. Prior to that happening Dez was impressing just about every and anyone that got to watch him play. In the receiving department he sparks a resemblance to Micheal Irvin with his size and hands and precision route running. The difference is that Braynt also has break away speed and that is why they use him on speacial teams returning kicks. Kid is special, needs to keep his head on right though.
Now lets look at this year. We have a healthy Tony Romo and Dez Bryant. We have Felix Jones moving into the starting role as RB. Which is ok here, Barber was not the Barber of old, so moving to Jones is a good choice. Speaking of choice, Tashard should be healthy come the start of the regular season and he adds another gear out of the back field. One concern we do have is the short yardage stuff. We no longer have the battering ram to pound out those tough 2 yards. We will need to find one fast, that was a big problem for us last year and the Cowboys became predictable on 3rd down because other teams knew they couldnt run the ball. We still have 2 of the most talented TEs in the game in Witten and Bennett. Along with the other receivers and backs the Cowboys offense looks to score many points again this year, that is as long as Romo stays healthy. We still do not have a back up that can actually win any games yet, and that must be addressed.
Now with Rob Ryan on board as the defensive cord. the Cowboys defense can return to the days when they would lead the league in that department. We have super talented defensive players at alomost every position, the trick will be how fast they pick up the new system of Coach Ryan. We also will need to find an experienced safety, that has been a Cowboys issue for too many years now. Corners will be ok and our strength on defense is our linebackers and ends, and we have some of the best in the game.
So what we see tonight in the first pre season game may not be much at all, but we will learn a few things. Is the defense learning the scheme, is the timing there between Romo and his receivers? We will see......ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL
Tell us what you think.

I notice you didn't mention DeMarco Murray. I see Jamaal Charles in him..........no?
I did forget to mention him but not intentionally...I was not a fan of drafting him, cowboys already have 2 backs in Jones and choice that are the same style as Murray. To your question I do see some similarities to Charles in him but that is not what Dallas needs they need a every down back that will stick his head down and plow forward for those tough 2 yards...none of their backs are that way in my opinion...but on the flip side he has talent
That is true............ but at least the Bears have one of those tough two yard backs now
Heck yea the bears picked up barber and Sam hurd from us...they got to players that will contribute...Roy well we both know about Roy LOL
