So now that Gov. Rick Perry has officially entered the 2012 Presidential race there are a lot of mixed opinions about him.
Gov. Perry is the nations longest tenured governor. He has done some things in the state of Texas that many other governors only dream about.
His state has balanced a budget without raising any new taxes. That is something to be proud of. His state has had more job growth then any other state since our recession started. Actually of all new jobs created since the recession began the state of Texas accounts for 40% of them. That is also something to be very proud of.
Gov. Perry is in the mold of a former President named Reagan. He believes that by removing many of the government regulations the PEOPLE will then begin to prosper. That has some truth to it. We here at Loose Topics believe that it was and is big government that has gotten us into this economical mess and the only way out is to remove some of the government.
Now there are people out there that will say don't vote for Gov. Perry because he doesn't care about public education or our children. It is true that Gov. Perry has cut public education spending in Texas tremendously. Thousands of teachers have been laid off due to these cuts. Many school programs are no longer because of these cuts. Is this terrible? Absolutely. Gov. Perry is also known to have made or wants to make major cuts to Medicare and Medicaid, as well as social security. This too does not sit well with some people.
But you know what this does say about Gov. Rick Perry? It says that he is not afraid to make the tough decisions. He doesn't just make the decision that would make him popular, no he makes the decision that is best overall. He gets rid of wasteful government spending, even if that makes him look like the bad guy. Believe us people there was and still is a lot of wasteful spending in our public education system. Just look around here locally. Read our article about that. When school district superintendents make more then the governor himself there is something wrong.
If you look at the Republican party and the people that are running for the Republican nomination, Gov. Perry doesn't look so bad. Mit Romney can not hold a candle to Gov. Perry. Romney's tenure as a governor was horrible, his state was a mess. Is he a good business man, sure but that doesn't make a good president. Just ask Ross Perot or Donald Trump. Sara Palin will not even run, she just loves to show up for the cameras to keep her face in the media. How about Michelle Bauchmam? Well she is too inexperienced as we saw with Palin last year. What about Newt Gingrich? Well he can't even run his own campaign, how is he suppose to run our country. Then there is Ron Paul, enough said about Mr. Paul.
So take a good look at your options coming out of the Republican party. Gov. Perry looks like a shining star. Will Gov. Perry be our next President? We have no idea really, but would he beat President Obama in a Presidential race? Absolutely.
So before you go bashing one of these candidates, look at them for what they are, what they stand for and what they have done. Have they improved their states situation? Have they had to make tough decisions?
We here have not endorsed any candidates, we are just reporting some facts and some of our views.
Who do think will get the Republican nomination? The Democratic nomination? What do think about Gov. Perry? Who are you endorsing?
Let us know...the public makes his decision never forget that. Vote and believe in what and who you vote for.
We want to hear from the people so leave us your comments please.
