As our followers know we usually write articles about something political but every now and then we like to write about something different.

Todays article will focus on youth sports, soccer in general.

As the fall season gets closer and closer kids are getting ready to return to school. Parents are just as ready for the return of school as well. This marks the beginning of the fall soccer season.

Soccer is a great sport to get kids interested in. The sport teaches many things along with great exercise. They learn how to intereact with others. Soccer is one of the most teammate dependant sport out there. You must learn to work with your teammates in order to achieve your goal. This is no different then in life. We all must learn to work with others in order to achieve our goals.

Soccer also teaches discipline. Not in the way of a coach scolding a player, but in the way that things must be done a certain way in order to achieve the outcome the team wants. This is the same in life, we must do things a certain way so that we may reach our goals.

Soccer teachers individualism. Now some people may say that this is not a characteristic they want their child to have. In the game of soccer you must depend on your teammates but you must also be able to create and do things on your own. Just like in life where we can depend on others for some things, but there comes a time when we have to do things on our own. Having individual skills is one of the most important things to learn in soccer and in life.

The exercise that one can get from playing the sport of soccer is incredible. There is constant running. Sprints, long distance runs, change of directions, eye hand coordination. These are all things that are done and learned through the sport of soccer.

But more important then all of those things, the sport of soccer teachers children and adults how to have fun. It is proven that kids enjoy being around other kids. And when you add a fun sport like soccer, it only adds to the enjoymemt of being around each other. The friendships and memories that are created through playing soccer one never forgets. I can still remember playing youth soccer and still remember the names of the kids I played with. I am now, well let's just say I am older now.

Gulf Coast Soccer is a local soccer league that offers all of these things to kids of all ages. They provide experienced and knowledgeable coaches to your children. They provide soccer to all age groups as well. They have been here in the coastal bend for many many years now. They are a combination of the old Oso soccer league and the old Flour Bluff soccer league.
