SAVING ONE OF YOUR OWN...

Today our brothers in New York had to save one of their own. Earlier today FDNY firefighters pulled one of their own from a burning building. The firefighter that was rescued was actually still on fire when he escaped the third floor of structure in Brooklyn that had just flashed over.

As crew members searched the third floor of this structure for possible occupants, it flashed over trapping at least one firefighter on that floor. Right after that happened an ladder from an aerial apparatus was placed at the third floor window. A firefighter climbed the ladder and helped the trapped firefighter escape and also put out the flames that were still covering the escaping firefighter.

It is reported that this firefighter was taken immediately to a near by hospital with burns to 40% of his body including head, face, and hands. It is reported that the firefighter is in critical condition but is breathing on his own at this time.

It was later determined that the structure was empty of occupants at the time it flashed over. A family of 6 does live in the structure but no one was home at the time of the fire.  It should be noted that 4 other firefighters were injured at this fire as well. They are in stable conditions at this time.

After our article titled EVERYONE GOES HOME, this story and the videos that are provided below really hit home. Please keep all members involved in this incident in New York in your thoughts and prayers. Lets hope for a quick and safe recovery to all that were injured.

Below is the incredible video of the firefighter escaping the third floor just after it flashed over...
