DAY 20 - EITHER I AM REALLY SORE OR GETTING SICK...

DAY 20 ROLLS IN AFTER DAY 19, THIS IS SIGNIFICANT TO ME FOR A FEW REASONS...

ON DAY 19 I STARTED MY NEW 5X5 STRENGTH PROGRAM AND REALLY GOT AFTER IT YESTERDAY IN THE GYM. THE WEIGHT I HAVE STARTED WITH I WOULD NOT CALL HEAVY YET, BUT THE VOLUME IN A 5X5 IS A TAD BIT SNEAKY!

IN THIS PROGRAM I DO THREE EXERCISES FOR 5 SETS OF 5 REPS. STARTING THE WEIGHT RELATIVELY LOW AND EACH WORKOUT I WILL ADD 5#S TO THE BAR. YESTERDAY I DID FRONT SQUATS, BENCH PRESS AND BARBELL ROWS. TOMORROW I WILL DO BACK SQUATS, OVERHEAD PRESS AND DEADLIFT. THE GREAT THING ABOUT THIS IS I AM SQUATTING EVERY WORKOUT WHETHER IT IS A FRONT SQUAT OR A BACK SQUAT. SQUATTING IN MY OPINION IS THE QUICKEST WAY TO BECOME STRONGER AND ADD SIZE WHILE LOSING FAT, IT IS TRULY A FULL BODY MOVEMENT!

I WOKE UP THIS MORNING ABOUT THE SAME TIME I ALWAYS DO. TODAY WE HAVE TO GET BABY GIRL OFF TO DAY CARE AND THEN TAKE PAYTON TO THE DENTIST. HE HAD TO HAVE A COUPLE OF FILLINGS. LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING I LEARNED A LOT ABOUT MY SON AT THIS APPOINTMENT. THE DENTIST DID 2 OF HIS FILLINGS WITH NO NUMBING AGENT AT ALL! THAT KID IS A STRAIGHT BEAST AND I MEAN THAT I A GOOD WAY!

AFTER GETTING UP MY BODY IS EXTREMELY PISSED OFF AT ME FOR SOME REASON. EVERY MUSCLE IN MY BODY IS SCREAMING PROFANITIES AT ME RIGHT NOW! MY LATS AND CHEST ARE THE WORSE...

I DON'T USUALLY PERFORM BARBELL ROWS AND BENCH PRESSES WHEN I WORKOUT BECAUSE TO BE COMPLETELY HONEST I DON'T SEE THE POINT. NEITHER OF THOSE EXERCISES ARE VERY FUNCTIONAL IN NATURE AND DO NOT TRANSLATE TO EVERY DAY LIFE VERY EASY. I AM MORE OF THE FUNCTIONAL WORKOUT TYPE, BUT I AM GOING TO GIVE THIS PROGRAM A SHOT AND CHANGE IT UP. GET OUT OF MY COMFORT ZONE!!

I ALSO NOTICE THAT IT IS HARD TO SWALLOW, NOT HARD IT JUST HURTS. GREAT A SORE THROAT IS ALWAYS THE START OF SOMETHING RIGHT? KEEP IN MIND THAT MY DAUGHTER HAS BEEN SICK FOR THE LAST 2 WEEKS WITH SOMETHING...

OK NOW MY ANXIETY LEVEL KICKS UP A FEW NOTCHES, I START THINKING I HAVE A FEVER AND CHECKING MY TEMP EVERY SO OFTEN. NO WORRIES, NO FEVER YET. 

I KEEP TELLING MYSELF THAT I AM JUST REALLY SORE FROM THE WORKOUT YESTERDAY, LIKE I SAID I FELT REALLY STRONG YESTERDAY AND EVEN THREW AROUND THE BEAST 80#KB!!

BUT THE PROBLEM IS MY FEET HURT, MY FINGERS HURT, MY JOINTS HURT! THIS ALMOST SEEMS LIKE BODY ACHE WITH SOME SORENESS MIXED IN. GREAT, JUST WHAT I NEED COMING DOWN THE HOME STRETCH OF MY CHALLENGE. 

IT'S OK, I DO NOT FEEL BAD REALLY AND PLAN ON GETTING BACK IN THE GYM TOMORROW. MY DIET HAS BEEN A LITTLE OFF, MOM BROUGHT HOME A DELICIOUS PAPA MURPHY'S CHICKEN AND GARLIC PIZZA LAST NIGHT, SO WE DID ENJOY THAT. TODAY I AM NOT ALL THAT HUNGER SO I HAVE BEEN MAINLY JUST PICKING HERE AND THERE. 

I WILL NOT WORKOUT TODAY FOR 2 REASONS. THE FIRST REASON IS IF I AM GETTING SICK I DO NOT WANT TO ADD ANY UNDUE STRESS ON MY IMMUNE SYSTEM. I NEED IT TO BE AS STRONG AS POSSIBLE TO FIGHT WHATEVER THIS MIGHT BE OFF.

THE 2ND REASON IS WHEN DOING THE 5X5 PROGRAM YOU NEED TO ALLOW A DAY IN BETWEEN WORKOUTS TO ALLOW YOUR BODY TO REST AND REBUILD. IF YOU WERE TO TRY AND DO BACK TO BACK DAYS IT WOULD BE COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE BECAUSE YOUR MUSCLES NEVER HAVE A CHANCE TO GROW AND GET BIGGER/STRONGER AND REGROUP. 

SO NOW IT IS TIME TO SIT BACK AND RELAX AND WATCH SOME OF THE AUSTRALIAN OPEN TENNIS MATCHES UNTIL IT IS TIME TO GO GET BABY GIRL FROM DAY CARE. 

I HOPE THAT I AM JUST REALLY SORE FROM THIS NEW PROGRAM AND NOT GETTING SICK!! I WILL LET YOU ALL KNOW TOMORROW FOR SURE.
